The Royal Blood Women

The Royal Blood Women (in a few words)

I have a mother, I have a sister, two grandmothers, four female cousins, four aunts, dozens of female professors, hundreds of female friends, thousands of muses; I cannot accept that these women whom I love, who inspire me, have to risk their lives or their safety. I cannot tolerate that thousands of women I do not know and that I will never know will be hurt just because they are women.Too often, a woman in the world is murdered, raped, injured, sold. Their blood must not be poured out; the only blood a woman has to give is the menstrual period, which becomes the object of my installation, because the menarche is common to all women in the world as they come of age. Whether she is a queen, a prime minister, an actress, a writer, a singer, at that special moment, she becomes a woman, just like any other woman in the world.Blood that reminds us of other blood, like a metaphor.I install this work on the pavements, on bridges, as a spotlight on this theme, to say to all men:Even if we don’t love them, we must respect them, and, we all have to defend them.
