An Acting Experiment

It always amazes me when watching actors how the same piece can appear to be completely different depending on who is performing it and how. With comedy it is a particularly difficult, yet essential, choice. Does one go deadpan or bring energy? Deadpan can be very funny but it can also seem flat. Whereas an overly emotional performance can seem over the top and lacking in truthfulness.

I did this experiment to show people how exactly the same monologue can change dramatically when played by various performers. It could be of interest to drama students, writers, trainee directors or just curious members of the public. Enjoy!
